I like stories of children entering the family business.

Last night Shelly and I attended Gregg Allman's Laidback Festival at Jones Beach. One of many highlights involved a son playing just before his father's gig.  Devon Allman played a strong set on the “Low Country Stage” ahead of his dad's set on the Laid Back Stage. Waiting for the son's set after Orleans really great set ended we chatted with a few couples we met there. One couple shared plans to take in the Festival at Red Rocks in Colorado. I pointed to the artwork (see below) adorning my tee-shirt

and shared “this guy (Richie Furay) is playing there too."

Just as Gregg's son plays, Richie's daughter, Jesse Furay Lynch, also sings in her dad's band; Jesse just released her own album, available on her dad's website store.

Several friends have a son or daughter in the family business or (same) profession.

While neither son or daughter took up the law or the political life, both enjoy the gift of writing and know how to message succinctly and thoughtfully.

Does your child follow your path? Do you want that? Share your comment.

My son David was our law partner for many years before starting his own firm. He is also my teammate on the Gotham Batmen. Our other son Alex does graphic design for Gotham, eg, the lamp post above.

My younger daughter is, at 23, the Director of Interior Design for a Real Estate development company in Berlin, taking after her father (architect) and paternal grandmother (interior designer). The design genes sure didn't come from me. But both my daughters are tell-it-like-it-is feminists, which surely did come from me!

Red rocks was on my list pf placed to visit this summer! Instead, I have been going to Jones Beach and the new Amphitheater in Coney Island...and some pretty cool concerts in my old neighborhood, Bay Ridge--Brooklyn. I love summers HERE! :)

My oldest son decided that he would like to be part of my business, hesitant at first, he has become a valuable asset. The best part is I have a person who knows IT at the drop of a dime. I can't tell you how much time we save by his trouble shooting. He has also taken over aspects of the business that required only myself to take care of (finances). On top of all that--he's learning (at a fast pace) just how difficult this job (like many others is).
I'm a very happy mamma.

I used to listen to the Allman Brothers for free in Piedmont Park when I was a youngster. It just keeps getting better.

I told all four of my kids not to become lawyers. Three listened. . . .
