Summer

With Memorial Day now past, summer is around the corner.

We spent Sunday at the beach. Not our usual trek to the busy beaches we typically visit on the south shore of Long Island. This weekend, we went to a small, quiet, pretty beach on the north shore. The views were spectacular even if the beach was rocky.

Our afternoon made me start thinking about summer. There are so many things to do when the weather turns warm. Outdoor concerts at the parks in our town or at Jones Beach theatre. Outdoor meals overlooking the water. Spending time around the pool reconnecting with friends. Our annual miniature golf outings.

I am really looking forward to summer 2016.

What does summer mean to you?

BBQs. It used to be beaches, but summer upstate feels different. Now it's sitting outside late after the kids have finished the s'mores in the bonfire. Watching the stars come out. Shorts and flip flops. Bug spray and dirty wet feet from walking in the stream. Listening to the frogs thrumming in the row boat on the pond. Lazy breezes from ceiling fans. Big fat bumblebees and butterflies in the wild flowers. . . . so glad it's here!!! :)

I discussed it in my Sunday blog which folks can still check out.
