We have been talking recently in my house about what counts as an instrument.

My son sings. It’s actually pretty amazing how much time and attention he devotes to his craft. We counted yesterday. Between the five choral groups with which he performs, NYSSMA, All County, the school musical and a few more performances, he had to learn nearly 100 songs and arrangements this school year alone.

Some people say that voice doesn’t count. Guitar counts. Piano counts.

I disagree. When your art requires learning 100 songs a year, I think that counts as an instrument.
