If you like good music (yeah, yeah), mark Sunday, April 17th on your calendar.  No Arthur Conley but still some sweet sounds.

Bob Dylan

On that day, the 4th annual Gotham Battle of the Bands® takes place at the iconic Rock venue Cafe Wha? (Thank you Make A Difference Group Co-Chair William Skody for making available his world famous venue) in the heart of Greenwich Village.

As set forth in detail to the right the Gotham Battle of the Bands® features a top prize of $2,000 AND a gig at the same world famous concert venue where such icons as Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix played at the outset of their careers.

Already many great bands submitted applications to compete; if you know or want to recommend a band click here for eligibility requirements and a band application Our venerable committee headed by Gotham Entertainment chair Norm Spizz meets later this month to determine which bands deserve the chance to Battle for musical victory.Cafe Wha?

Doors open at 2:30 p.m.  Expect bands to play from 3:30 through 6:30 p.m.; look for our judges to announce the winners shortly after.

Get your tickets — $15 general seating and $50 premium — hereJimi

The Gotham Battle of the Bands® — a great way to spend a Spring Sunday.  Mass transit  takes your there.  No parking meters on Sundays.

And as a special treat, AFTER the show, Corey Bearak, “curator” of Gotham’s RockRap listserve and co-author of this musical blog, will show where the three key (and still making music) members of that iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, Buffalo Springfield, that begat several other bands, met just two blocks away.  Join me not at the End of The Line, but in the very front row!

Positively 4th Street...You've got a lot of nerve to say you are my friend...when I was down you just stood there grinning.......Dylan went electric in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival. I was his pilot after the Navy and before the airline career . His back up band was Robbie Robertson lead guitar , Levon Helm on drums, Garth Hudson on keyboards , Rick Danko on bass and Richard Manuel on piano. The Hawks soon to become The Band . I was also Dylan's driver and companion on tour. Adjoining rooms and late night all night old movie fan with herbal tea and honey for his voice !Those were the days flying an old WW II bomber around the good old USA with a bunch of wild men and woman in the back. Judy Collins , Joan Baez , The Byrds et al . What a contrast to 2012 when I was Mitt and Anne Romney's pilot and flew them around the 2012 campaign trail !! And now ???

You could (should) write a book unless they made you sign a confidentiality agreement. Did you ever put her on automatic pilot?
