If you haven't heard, a small bird landed on Bernie Sander’s podium during a speech in Portland, Oregon, on March 25. He was shocked and surprised and it was an interesting moment. It almost seemed like a scene from a Disney movie.  

On Wednesday I passed another mile marker (see photo taken by Rodger Davis).  They say "It's just a number" and "You look good".  Well, the number is a very heavy mental weight which hangs over me and is never far from my thoughts.  I just can't really believe it.  Nor can I believe Joanne and I will be married 50 years in July. 

I am pleased by the outcome of the Apple case -- when the FBI sought to compel Apple to assist in breaking into the iPhone of the San Bernardino terrorists. Although I was leaning toward upholding privacy even in the face of national security, I was not completely comfortable with the prospect of a Judge deciding and establishing a rule of law between those interests.

Just back from a check up at the Doctor's office. A year (or so) ago, he took my blood and reported to me that my cholesterol was dangerously high.

I am just about ready for a lazy day. You know – the kind of day that has no errands, no work and no plan. No cleaning, no laundry, no chauffeuring, no supermarkets, no gym. My "no" list could go on and on.

I have been watching the dramatization of the O.J. Simpson trial on television. And, while most of the details of the trial I remember, it is the sub stories of the parties involved that I find most interesting. In particular, the story I now find most poignant is that of Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor.  

Saturdays – at least the mornings – are one of my hoops day; that's basketball for those who need more clarity. I enjoy it; it's intergenerational (even more so in the summer but that'll merit its own blog...maybe).  

You might want to crack open that dusty box of vidoes and see if you have any that you forgot to bring back to the store. A North Carolina man was arrested this week on charges he failed to return a VHS tape to a video store 14 years ago. 14 years! It wasn't even a really good movie..."Freddy Got Fingered."
