Packing

The first day of Summer. Thoughts of long weekends, vacations, beach and mountains. Whatever works for you to get away from the heat of the City, and other things.
What to pack? Sandals, flip-flops, walking shoes, shorts, bathing suits, a few T-shirts, maybe a light sweater. Those choices are far less important than deciding on these: cellphone, smartphone, iPad, laptop.
Getting away depends on what you pack.

Can one truly get away if devices are included?

Fortunately we have Airplane Mode, which works 365 days a year.
Enjoy your time away and have a lovely adventure.

Might be a good idea to "unpack" them when dining out with friends as well!!

Durations matter for devices and comfort matters for all. My music -- almost all -- lies on my phone so it has an important secondary use. Sneakers, sandals, a selection of t-shirts appropriate to duration and location, my lightweight John Fogerty hoody for any cool eves, a few bathing suits and plenty of sunscreen. As do the impact of devices note my response to Fred's comment.

Music and other media available on such devices can help create shorter term and refreshing getaways. Listened to two Beacon theatre shows by John Fogerty on the rides in and back to a labor political directors meeting this morning and afternoon. It helped the flow of things for sure.

We are leaving for the beach on Monday morning, hanging out with my cousins and friends. A much needed break...
