I read recently that Jeb Bush inadvertently checked the Hispanic box in his voter registration form in 2009. His response was, “My mistake! Don’t think I’ve fooled anyone." It reminded me of a the silly mistakes I make and how foolish it is to get angry about them. How many times have I frantically searched for my glasses only to find them on the top of my head or hanging from my shirt collar? I just laugh now at my own ridiculousness. We are humans and that is the beauty and horror of it all. It works the other way too. I was beyond beat, I had been going at Life for 14 hours, but had promised a friend we'd go see this performance, so I went cheerily onward. My feet were unusually distractingly unhappy throughout the not-so-great piece, but I made it through and when I got outside, low and behold, the 14th St xtown bus stop! An early Easter Miracle! On Grand Street! I have no idea what it is doing there but it dropped me so very close to my house. The joy I felt was also kind of ridiculous. I mean it's a bus stop. What I'm getting at is this, Dorothy Gale had it smart. Everything I'm looking for is all in my own back yard. Glad my yard includes this tribe.
