My daughter provided another proud parent moment -- perhaps two in one day this past Wednesday, 16 days after her last one, chronicled here two Sundays ago.  The assistant director in the New York office of the American Jewish Committee (“AJC New York”), Marisa shared her view on being "A Jewish New Yorker 3 years years after Oct. 7" in a New York Daily News op-ed on October 7.  Marisa texted her mom and dad the Friday before that the News would run the piece; at first I thought it might run last weekend but, upon reflection, I realized it made sense for the News to run it on October (as it did); indeed that Tuesday eve (October 6), Marisa texted that editorial page editor Michael Aronson advised it would appear in print (see below image)

Marisa's Daily News Op-Ed

and online at 5:00 a.m.

But that was not all.  The Spectrum News NY1 morning news show (see the image for today's commentary) featured Marisa's Op-Ed on news anchor Pat Kiernan's "In The Papers" segment (at 0:56).  After opening with stories in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Kiernan stated "The Daily News featured a guest column by a Jewish New Yorker who likened the fear and feelings of October 7, 2023 to the feelings here in New York on September 11.  Marisa Bearak writes that both were days of mass terrorism that divided life into a before and after."

\When I retweeted the AJC tweet on Marisa's commentary, I "quoted" the NY1 feature.  I also proudly shared the commentary with members of Congress, and state and city elected officials, including those I find needing a "proper education" on October 7 and antisemitism. The evening before I had already set up an email to my Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council list for release first thing that Wednesday morning before I made my way to a two-day NYC Central Labor Council political directors retreat in Cutchogue; I had just needed to add the op-ed links.  I also share it on the People4Peace Signal chat.

Clearly more required reading that I commend to your attention (Maybe you already read it.  Hope you agree.  Please check it out.
