Now that I'm firmly entrenched in the Encore stage of life, the profound saying "Youth is wasted on the young" resonates.  

If you don't know what I'm talking about, enjoy the ride, but emphasis on enjoy, because, as humans, we all have an end date.  

When we were young, what did we know?  We thought we knew it all and took so much for granted and only as the years scrolled by did we begin to know, learn and suffer the hard truths.  

Satchel Paige once asked "How old would you be if you didn't know how old you was?"  I would say 40 (over half a life ago).  It was a very good year!

When you are young, you have energy and time, but no money. When you are middle-aged, you have energy and money, but no time. When you are old, you have money and time, but no energy! Gotta try to break the cycle!
