Can you work with music playing?

 

On Saturday mornings I generally write my blogs. I always have music on during that time.  Some Saturday mornings, when I am finished with the blog writing, I will catch up on some work.

 

The moment I change from writing blogs, I have to turn off the music. I find that the music distracts me just enough that I cannot focus on the work. I guess I do not need the same level of concentration for writing blogs as I do for work.

 

I cannot do both. Can you?

I can't work to music. I find it distracting and takes my focus to it rather than the work. It is one reason I didn't like working in the cubical environment where often someone was playing music.

I have nearly 12,000 songs on my itunes music on my computer and listen (usually on shuffle) all day while working. Music in the background is a must for me.

I absolutely cannot listen to music while I am working. It is distracting. It wasn't always that way, but it is now.
