The Reader Verses The Non-Reader

I love to read. For as long as I can remember, reading has always been my greatest escape, a doorway to worlds unknown and stories untold. I can easily read one book a week, most often before I go to sleep. Although, during football season I can read all day while my husband watches football.

My husband, however, is the polar opposite, preferring movies or television to reading. Despite our differences, we’ve learned to appreciate each other’s difference. Every so often we watch a movie or television series for which I have previously read the book.  He does love to discuss with me afterwards the difference between the book and the movie or television series.

My husband’s disinterest in reading does not diminish my love for it. Although, after being married to me for twenty years, he still cannot quite understand why, occasionally, he will wake up at 2:00 am and find that I am still wide-awake reading.

Are you a reader?

Not a good book reader. But I love articles about information. In this fast paced, only so many minutes of time, I have found a good article I can knock out in a few minutes or a review of an interested product, is what I find myself doing on free time.

I keep a running list of books to get from the library and read as I can. Currently have Nancy Pelosi's The Art of Power

I wish I had more time to read. It is my favorite relaxation exercise -- along with a glass of wine.
