Triumph of the Will

Categories

Last December I resolved to swim each and every day of 2023 and I am proud to say my mission was accomplished last Sunday.

The ins and outs of it were pretty easy, but the most important thing was that I did not suffer any major illness or injury which might have aborted my quest.

Weather was also an important factor and I give thanks to my local JCC for affording an October through year end finish line opportunity each and every morning at 6 am (and my wonderful "Lane 1, 2, 3 and 6 Club" members).

The thing about starting a streak and building it every day is that there comes a time when it weighs heavily upon you.
You have come so far and you implore yourself that you can't give up no matter what the reason!

"Sticktoitism" is the word and stick to it I proudly did!

It truly was a triumph of the will!

People asked me during the streak what I would do at year end and truth be told I have not yet been in the water.

Congratulations on your incredible achievement! Your commitment and determination to swim every day of 2023 is truly inspiring. Overcoming challenges and staying focused on your goal is no easy feat, but you did it!

As for what you'll do now that the streak is over, take your time and enjoy a well-deserved break. Reflect on the incredible journey you've had and celebrate your success!

You prove once more that big goals are achieved one step - in this care stroke - at a time.

Congrats on reaching your goal, everyday for a year can feel like a long year. I know that water was cold!

Awesome, Fred! That is some serious determination.

What’s wrong with lanes for and five?

Congratulations!! Don't fret about not going in the water yet. Take a break and enjoy it. You've been doing it enough years that even with a long break you won't get out of shape. Also, at our age if you wake up not looking forward to something then don't do it and you don't want that to happen with your swim!!
