Gotham's Holiday Party

Categories
Holidays

Gotham held its first post pandemic, in person, holiday party at Arno Restaurant in New York City on Wednesday night.

We turned out in good numbers (over 70) and festive moods.  The room was nice and the food (not so good) and drink (open bar) was ample and conducive.

Thank you to lead Sponsor William Skody, plus year long sponsons Sharon and Raj Goel and Tom Gallin.  Additionally, Norm Spizz, Rosalia Ruberto and Reliable Ray Walcott for making it happen.

At just the right moment, our Gotham Entertainment Chair took the mic and called the Awards proceedings to order.

The first Award was for the (Ray Walcott) Rookie of the Year, which last year's recipient Robert Intelisano bestowed upon Dominick Ciccarelli, the obvious winner.  In the crowd was the first winner Paula Oleska.

Next the 2023 Networkers of the Year (who reside in the Gotham Hall of Fame in perpetuity) were announced and they are Odey Raviv and Crysti Farra.

Gotham's highest honor is our Red Bandana Award, given in memory of "the Man in the Red Bandana", Welles Remy Crowther, who died a hero on 9/11 after saving 18 souls.  The recipient must exhibit similar, but impossible to match, self sacrifice to qualify.

Last year's recipient Vincent Chirico bestowed the Award upon Corey Bearak who does so much for Gotham and the World, ie, in recognition of his amazing Clout!!!

Finally, Hans Hanson, who was a donation Matcher and the engine for our Season of Giving drive, announced the five $6000 Gotham Foundation Grants (picked out of the hat by Gotham accountant Michael Garibaldi and verified by Lisa Waterman) pictured.

The $30,000 tax deductible donations were, by far, a Gotham record!  Topping last year's $23K and a heartening measure of the vibrancy of post pandemic Gotham and the personification of our Gotham Mantra:  It's better to give than receive, but what goes around comes around!

It's one of the best things we do!

I write this Blog with a happy heart and feelings of great Gotham fellowship and community with you and look forward to many more, even better, years together.  Thank you all for what you do!!!

Sounds like a great evening - and the spirit of Gotham rules :)
Ray Walcott

Thank you for the honorable mention, but all the praise should go to everyone who organized the event and the award winners.
Corey Bearak

Thank you Fred and Gotham. Wearing that blue and orange ”crown” proudly.
Benjamin Geizhals

A great in-person comeback event. Here’s to the well-deserved winners. See you all next year.
Shawn Bernabeu

Great to have everyone together in the same room for an in person event.
Scott Bloom

Actually-The Arno food was excellent, as usual. Upstairs. At least three tables of us had dinner there after the Gotham event!
Tessa Marquis

Wonderful to be able to hug everyone! Even shaking hands or touching someone's arm when speaking to them was a newfound joy.
I think my takeaway was that even if we seemingly have "nothing in common" we are untied in heart and soul.
In fact, there is no such thing as a "stranger", though some of us are stranger than others.
Yes, Love Wins.
Norman Spizz

It was great to see everyone in person once again, especially my two laughers, Paula and Rita Sue. Congrats to Fred who was able to handle the microphone without mishap even though he had one too many.
Daniel Schwartz

It was great to see everyone in person again. Award recipients were well deserved. Looking forward to 2024 and a prosperous New Year.
Robert Intelisano

Tremendous evening, Bravissimo Gotham! Wishing a Happy Hanukkah
Kelly Welles

It was heartening to be present at this celebration of the Best of Gotham each exemplifying the Gotham Spirit & Mantra in spades. Hats off to Corey, uber giver.
Dana Charlton

Thank you, Fred, for the excellent report on the most important event of the year ~ it encourages those who won awards ~ and Congratulations to all! ~ to keep doing what they do, and everyone else to do more! And insofar as the winners of the grants, tht list is most interesting ~ I had not heard of some of them before and am glad to be enlightened. Thank you for being Mr. Gotham, no matter who else wins which title! This is quite the networking group!
Rosalia Ruberto

So glad that everyone got to be together for that evening! I'm so sorry to have missed it! Congratulations to all the winners of awards and the season of giving initiative. You guys ROCK! Nancy and I watched over Zoom and it was GREAT! Special shout out to Reliable Ray for filling in for me!
Brett Deutsch

Congratulations to all the award winners. I'm so sorry I missed the party. Humble brag that last year's ROY -- Bandit's very own Robert Intelisano -- passed the award on to another Bandit member, 2023 ROY Dominick Ciccarelli!
Crysti Farra

Was a great evening and a wonderful event, despite the meager food offerings. So many people to see and catch up with. Congrats to all the award winners, but honestly, anyone involved in Gothic are already winners!
Paula Oleska

It was great to see you in person, Mr. Gotham!
