Traditions

So this week is the Yankees/Mets subway series. Its become a Gotham tradition and its one of the best night of the year! There is a lot of New York baseball tradition. Its sad when it comes to an end or there is an inevitable change. John Sterling has been the voice of the Yankees for 35 years. Years ago on TV and in recent years on AM Radio. He is now in his 80's, last year he stopped doing road games and this year his schedule has been even less as he has run into some heath concerns. Last week while doing the Yanks/Red Sox game he got hit by a foal ball in the broadcast both in the 9th inning. It didn't phase him, he just kept doing the broadcast. His time is coming to an end, The Tradition is ending and as a new replacement settles into the role a new tradition will begin.

I hope to see a big turn out from Gotham at the game tonight. GO YANKEES!

Great game and many thanks to Corey for another fantastic event! It makes no sense to me havibg a 2 game series w no winner. Needs to be an odd number of games.

Another vote for a great game with a great ending. Agree with Rob that an odd number of games would be better!

Even mother nature respected the Gotham scheduled event! Tigers remain consistent and clearly Detroit is a great place to be from.

Popcorn and cracker jackets. If I recall correctly they are still there ( as far as I know) due to a Gotham member who pushed back a few years ago when it was proposed to stop selling them.

Thank you Corey for organizing yet another great Gotham EVENT (not a great "game" - actually quite fundamentally unsound) but - sorry Fred - great ending! Baseball is such a game of redemption (e.g., Nimmo went from being Tuesday's goat [not GOAT] and recovered from a bonehead play earlier yesterday to get the walk-off hit, because the Yankees apparently didn't know or care that Nimmo actually dominates lefties this year). Two aces matched virtually pitch=for-pitch dominance (albeit with each team missing their best hitter), then - per usual nowadays - turned the game over to be decided by those not good enough to be starters. But good thing for all the time-saving new rules; otherwise we'd still be there! Great day - season-saving for the Mets - and here's to Corey, Fred, and the entire Gotham Baseball Crowd. 'til next year, Let's Go Mets!
