On Mentoring

Last weekend, we attended our nephew’s graduation from Brandeis University. It was nice being back at my alma mater. But that’s for another blog.
My takeaway was from the graduate who told that she was failing organic chemistry in her first semester. She recalled how her professor took that special interest in her and mentored her through the challenges of the course. Four years later, she was giving the student address with her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in neuroscience.
As I listened, I thanked that professor for changing a life, thanked the graduate for sharing her story, and thanked my professor who took that special interest in me.

Noticing the struggle of another and standing up for that person and actually for him/her self
