What's it all about ...

human behavior, truth, underlying meaning,

We humans often seem to spend too much time looking for some deep meaning in life events when, in fact, things are often pretty simple and straight forward. Recently, I forgot to do something I usually do for someone.

I became slightly obsessed  … How could I forget? Am I losing my mind? Did I do irreparable damage to a relationship?  What's behind this? What does it mean?

Truth be told, I just forgot. Nothing more and nothing less. I forgot things when I was 9 years old and from time to time I still do!  As it turned out my friend hadn’t noticed. No harm, no foul, as they say.

Then I wondered ... does that mean he didn’t care about or appreciate my usual effort? Was he telling the truth or just being nice? NO! It meant he didn’t notice and was not upset. He cautioned me with a wink,  to not let it happen again.

Not every mole hill needs to be made into a mountain and not every pothole is a sinkhole waiting to suck us into an abyss.

Do you ever look for meanings behind what people say or do – some ulterior motive or rebuke for something we have or have not done when, in fact they weren’t thinking about you at all. And what does that mean in the grand scheme of things?

I agree so much: These thoughts, "How could I forget? ... Am I losing my mind? ..." A wise mentor recently told me: They just do not matter. The story of grandfather telling grandson about 2 wolves inside fighting. One full of anger, self-doubt, be first... And the other with compassion, love and lending a hand to the next. Grandfather stops the story there.. And grandson exclaims "which wolf wins." Grandfather replied, "The one you feed."
