Dreaming of a Day Off

It has been very busy in my world and that is not a complaint.   But, I did observe recently that I have not had a full on day off in a long time.  Truth be told, I can’t really remember when that last day was.

And so, here comes the daydreaming.  These days, what would that day look like?

It could be a day of watching movies in pajamas and slippers.  With the season about to change, it could be a day at the beach with a good book.  It could also be a sunny afternoon in my backyard with my family, which includes my kids and their “others”, and of course, my grand puppy.  [Caveat, as long as I am not cooking or entertaining.]   It could be a day to do all of the tasks around the house that are just not getting done.

Now, if you ask me to daydream about a real vacation . . .

What would your “day off” look like?

Not even sure if that were possible but the venue could make an overall difference as the weather continues to become more and more reasonable. Also, a variety of electronic devices enable a varied approach to life tethered at a desk (inside or out).

I tried the no electronics ting while on my cruise vacation recently. As soon as we got to a Port where a place like Starbucks had Wi-Fi, everyone was scrambling outside with their phones to pick up emails and such. Heck, I even answered a couple of Gotham Bogs when there, even if they were a day or two late. So a day disconnected is difficult for me. Not easy to unwind these days, sadly.

My day off will be staycation, with walking in the park, reading in the park and looking at the clouds, doing nothing. Of curse I'd check my email when I got back :)

I remember going on our first actual vacation with kids and promising to leave my blackberry (yes, that is how long ago) home. After just a 5 day trip, I came home to 1500 emails and said never again.
