Opening Day

Today is a special day. Although it is someone’s birthday, everyday is someone’s birthday. Today is special because it’s Opening Day — the Mets in Miami and the Yankees at home.
Opening Day is very special. No statistics, hope and optimism reign supreme. Like race horses starting in the gate. All at the same place, waiting for the start.
And it’s time for the baseball caps to come down from their winter rest (although Corey wears his Mets cap year round).
By the way, in anticipation of Opening Day, I was wearing my Mets cap while walking on King Street in Alexandria, Virginia two weeks ago and got three “Let’s Go Mets” from passersby.
They were also looking forward to Opening Day.

Hats off to Corey, he does it right! Let's go Mets. Today, Max becomes the first pitcher to have started for and against Mets on Opening Day. But there always will be only one Tom Seaver, with a record 16 opening day starts, including an undefeated record in his 11 such starts as a Met. We all know that the Mets have the greatest opening day record of all time but of course it's all in how you end the season. See you in the Subway Series. Play ball!

After a long winter, baseball awakens from hibernation and does not see its shadow! The magnolias and cherry blossoms are blooming and so are our expectations! LFGM!

Super excited for today! Yes, I'm decked out in Orange & Blue, although will watch from my couch. May our best hopes of a NY vs NY WS materialize! LGM!
