Valentine's Day

What are your true feelings about Valentine's Day?

I ask while Tuesday is still fresh in your mind.

Is it just some manufactured Hallmark Holiday or is it romantic nirvana?

Over the arc of our marriage we have always exchanged Valentine's cards, except this year. We mutually agreed it had become a played out ritual.

Yet, as it happened, we had one of our very best Valentine's Days as we bought ourselves a present and enjoyed a wonderful dinner alone.

Who knows what next year has in store...

It is a Hallmark Holiday but feels good when you have someone to share it with. Funny, we both agreed no cards this year, yet we both still exchanged them. Hard to break the tradition. We too had a great dinner and treated ourselves to decadent chocolate.

We always exchange cards. Usually one romantic and one funny. This year we are away - so I bought mine and brought it along. My husband was unprepared so he bought me a present instead. Even though it is a “commercial” holiday- we love the ritual.

If it sparks a bit of romance or if rekindles a spark that has dimmed, it's a good thing. Glad you enjoyed it.

I like it. A nice reminder to not take your loved one for granted…. and water those flowers!

Dinner from our favorite restaurant, chocolate covered edibles, exchanging cards/gifts, and LOVE in the air. What more can we ask for?

A wonderful opportunity to ackowledge each other and the heart and art of one of life's most grounding relationships. And also, when appropriate, a chance to acknowledge others who are close to your heart such as a cousin, niece, college friend or sibling.

I love it. It gives us a moment to be just be with one another. Although we are like Judy, always buy one funny and one serious card.

“Water, the flowers“ is a euphemism for “You better get your act together, and pay more attention to me!“

Nothing wrong with expressions of love, whether on some mfg'd day or otherwise.
