Joanne's a Fan

Categories
Games

My wife Joanne is an artist with different tastes and talents than me who during the arc of our dating and marriage went her own way while I was inordinately consumed by sports and fandom.

Recently, however, there has been an appreciable and appreciated shift. Maybe because of Aaron Judge’s epic season or the late season call up of Rookie Oswaldo Cabrera (her favorite Yankee) or some other more cosmic reason.  In any case, now as our Yankees strive for a potential 28th World Series victory, she is all in as she watches the games with me asking questions and noticing things, eg, uniform colors and contrasts, I have always overlooked.

To say the least, it is wonderful and, for sure, Joanne is a Fan and Yankee good luck charm!

Always good to have a fellow rooter nearby. Glad she is enjoying this experience with you and adding a different perspective.

Perhaps it has something - subconsciously or not - to do with your wonder, fully persistent promotion of her art on social media. Just something to think about. It's a mutual enthusiasm and I appreciate it.

I love that Jo has become a fan! Victoria has shocked me over the years at how knowledgeable she has become about sports, especially in the last year. She will be quick to suggest challenging a Ref’s call, questioning a defensive strategy or asking about things like blitzes, “encroachment” or RBIs.

She is very careful about giving her love to a player. They have to show her something more like Tredavious White being a valedictorian, Tremaine Edmunds being a leader or Anthony Rizzo being an old school “Gamer”. I’m proud of her and it makes watching sports so much more fun with her.

I love this. Expanding consciousness to see the beauty and creativity in every molecule of this grand world of ours. Didn’t Ray Stevens say it best “everything is beautiful and its own way”?

I, like Joanne am not a big sports enthusiast. The one time I was obsessed, was during the “Subway Series” many years ago. It helps if you know the players and therefore invested. I sometimes watch the play offs - only if the Yankees are in them.

Love this and looking forward to meeting her!

Love this! And honestly, thanks to Paul and the boys I’ve come to love football (and baseball too). It’s like a whole world of cool information and people to learn about and to master that you can share with the people you love the most! There’s also such a wonderful camaraderie with people you don’t know. And it’s amazing to watch the bills we’ve all loved for so long coming into their own!! Go yanks!

My ex-wife loved football (Joe Montana and SF 49ers) and the NY Mets. My current wife who is a much better athlete is disinterested in any sport except for US OPEN tennis because she likes the Grey Goose Honey Deuce signature cocktail they serve at the open.

Nice to have your “life partner” on board with your Yankee passion!

Taking my son and now wife to the Giants/Jacksonville game this Sunday. Last minute ticket purchase and was shocked when I asked my wife and she wanted to go with us.

It’s really fantastic having your best friend cheering by your side!

Even though I'm not a fan, it's great seeing NY rally around teams.
