Signs

Since my brother passed away very unexpectedly I have been thinking about signs. There are many people who have recently told me stories of what they are convinced evidences signs from those who have passed away.

I have a friend whose mother collected figurines of robins. Apparently, there were numerous robin figurines throughout her home growing up.  My friend tells a story about her first birthday after her mother passed away. She heard a tapping on her window and there was a red robin. She found the presence of the robin comforting and a sign, to her, that her mother was still watching over her.

My brother  was a huge sports fan, especially a devoted Jets fan. Recently, the Jets uncharacteristically beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final seconds of the game. The Steelers/Jets game is always a huge event in our families as my family and my brother’s family are avid Jets fans. My sister’s family are staunch Steelers fans.

Right after  the Jets won the game I jokingly texted my nephew:

Do you think your Dad helped them along there?

His response:

Divine intervention from my Dad? Could be. Not sure how else that could have  happened. . . .

If my brother wanted to send us a sign that he was watching over us, it would definitely be through a sports event. Did he send us a sign that he is?  I’m not so sure. But it’s a comforting  thought.

Do you believe in signs?

I believe in whatever good brings people comfort and a sense of connection.

As a superstitious and at times obsessive compulsive person, I believe anything is possible. But it would make life a lot easier for me if it was not.
