“Jaws”, “Titanic”, “Batman”, and “Spiderman” etc. are what comes to mind when one thinks of a blockbuster.  The advertisers and chatter made you feel that you had to see “Star Wars” or “The Avengers”.

Now “House of the Dragon” (prequel to “Game of Thrones”) on HBO and “The Rings of Power” (“Lord of the Rings” spin off) on Amazon  are playing on our need to be part of the conversation.  The commercials and social media are rampant.  Recently, superhero movies have been the ticket to the box office bonanza.  The two new hyped series are pure fantasy.  A rich genre that may lead to a new era of fantasy on both television and the movies.

I admit that I did not watch “Game of Thrones” or see the “Lord of the Rings”.  I am not excited about either of the two new series, but will consider taking a look if the “buzz” is convincing.
