Cellphone Panic

I lost my cellphone….
Or at least, for about an hour, I thought I had lost it.
Years ago, I had lost my cellphone. Back then, the phone was simply a phone.
In that hour of panic last week, I realized what my “phone” really was. As I traced my movements in desperate search, my thoughts were overwhelmed by the importance of my phone and the difficulty, perhaps, impossibility, of replacing it.
Was it backed up?
And the thought that it may fall into distrusting hands.
And there were no land lines from which to call it.
PANIC.
And as I searched, the irrationality of it being lost simmered in the back of my thoughts. It didn’t make sense.
And it was found…. But that may be for another blog.

Glad you found it! A few years ago I left home in a hurry for a meeting. I gothylf way there and realized I didn't have my phone - that's what happens when I rush! It was too late to go back, I didn't know exactly where the meeting place was. It was at that point i realized how dependent I was on that little device. No way to call the person I was meeting to tell her I was running late. I could not ask siri for directions. Nobody on the street was able to help - no payphone with dangling phonebooks were in sight. I finally found the place and the meeting went well but I now, unless I intentionally leave the phone behind, it goes with me out the door when I leave home.

Horrible! Happens to all of us. When you lose your cell phone, you need to borrow another phone (Flo's?) and call your carrier who can put a tracer on it..until the battery burns out. You can also leave a note taped to the back of your phone: Please return to: (contact info). Reward if found.
