Soup

I had soup for lunch.  I really enjoy all kinds of soup.

Did you notice that I didn’t say I “ate” soup or “drank” soup for lunch?  Let me add here to the raging debate – well, not really – about the proper articulation of enjoying soup.

To me, it is about the vessel and utensils utilized.  If my soup is in a bowl and I need to lift a spoon, then I am eating.  If my soup is in a glass, you get the idea, this is a drinking experience.

Of course, I most often hedge the bet and “have” soup.

Where do you fall in the soup divide?

Soup is great, all year round. Even hot soup on a hot day (helps outside feel cool).

Eating Mushroom soup in the winter and Gazpacho in the summer are my faves.

I eat my soup. Always with a spoon. If I drink any of it at the end, its out of the bowl. I have even eaten soup with "stuff" in it with a fork if I felt the liquid was too high in sodium to consume on its own.

I hear you, as was I. But sometimes my soup is in a glass and then I'm confused.

You learned with Fred. I am honestly not sure where I fall when I pick up the bowl at the end. I think then I am "having" soup.
