Plane Reading

Categories
Holidays

I need recommendations for some good books for vacation reading. I, generally, like to read science fiction or easy read novels.

My husband and I are, hopefully, flying to South Africa at the beginning of September. I say “hopefully” because we have had to postpone this trip twice, all due to the COVID lockdown. So far, we are closer to actually going than we ever were before.

Given the length of the flights, and my fear of flying, I need some books that will keep my interest.  I really need to be distracted during the flights.

So what have you got for me Gotham? What would you read during a “long-haul” flight?

I cant read well on a plane. But I do watch movies and videos. Hopefully your flight will have video screens in the seat in front of you. Get a good set of noise cancelling headphones, set the volume low, and you may end up sleeping most of the flight ( or be engaged in a decent movie).

I am like you -- I enjoy reading on a flight. I am reading the American Wife. About half way through. So far, so good.

I can heartily recommend The Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead. It's a whopping good yarn based on the early 20th-century history of women aviators.
