Have you ever regifted a gift?

I was in rush last week. My husband and I were invited to a friend’s beach house in the Hamptons for the day. I realized a few minutes before we were to leave that I had forgotten to buy a hostess gift. I was in a quandary as we were already running late, and we had no time to stop anywhere.

Immediately, my eyes settled on a pretty box in my home office. It was a fragrance diffuser that I had received as a gift that I had never opened.  I could not recall who had given it to me. I held it in my hand and seriously considered wrapping it up for my friend.

Within a few moments I spied a “Sea Breeze” candle that I had just recently bought myself. Thinking that it was a perfect gift for a beach house and that I could easily buy myself another one, I wrapped the candle up and gave it to my friend.

My friend loved the candle. She then remarked that the scent was similar to the home diffuser she had given me last year for Channukah!!!  Thank goodness I did not regift the home diffuser back to my friend.
