The Nest

I first noticed the bird’s nest about a week ago. It is on a low branch, nestled against the trunk, about eight feet up.
Three heads were visible - a mother and two little ones.
I observed them for a few days as the three of them sat in the nest. The mother guarding while the babies grew.
And then the mother left the nest and walked up the branch. It took a little while and the little ones followed up the branch. The three sitting and waiting.
The mother was waiting for the children to be ready. The children waited also, although I’m not sure whether they knew what awaits them.
And soon, the mother will likely push them off the branch and force them to leave the comfort of her protection.
I watched the birds with my grandson. He didn’t ask a lot of questions. I have a feeling that he knew.

We thought the babies had taken off and left the nest yesterday… a sense of necessary loss for us- But they were there when we returned:)
Soon the inevitable launch, but today smiles and chirps!

Hmmm. Suspect these fledglings have no idea what to expect. Neither did we as tykes. But the life force propels us. Thanks so much sharing.
