A Happy Place

I learned this from Corey early on in the pandemic.

After being stuck inside for the last of the winter months in 2020, spring arrived with summer right behind.  I learned that my office no longer needed to be inside  in a stuffy room behind a closed door.

Instead, on a beautiful day I could set up my entire office outside – double monitors and all – without very much trouble at all.

I learned quickly that being outside completely changed my work day.  There is something about being outside in fresh air that says, this is different.  [Thanks Corey!]

I have been back outside each spring and summer since.   This year I am finding that I am not always comfortable “zooming” from the deck, but I have learned how to easily run upstairs.

It’s going to be a beautiful day tomorrow.  Guess where I will be?

Outside life is great. I just find too many distractions around me so it does not work as well for me. Plus, the heat this time of the year by me is a bit much after about 5 minutes. Maybe in the winter.

It is fun for me to watch my friends and colleagues adapt to working from home - finding ways to enjoy it. During the pandemic I missed being able to work from my favorite cafe and felt home loud instead home based during the winter months. In the warm weather I am back outside but rarely for Zooms. And today I will be on the GC call from my new home away from home - albeit inside since it is going to rain.

Laptops make it easy! For me, it depends on the context., and how “formal” the call is.

Yes, agree. And finding that issue is more and more prevalent the further we get from full blown pandemic.
