Holding The Door

We approached the door to leave the store as a young man and woman were entering.
He held the door for his friend as she entered and then motioned for us to come through the door as he held it open. As I said thank you for his courtesy, I noticed the “Wrestling” on his T Shirt and asked him where he wrestled.
He wrestled for the local high school and I followed up and asked him what weight class he competed in.
He answered “126 pounds”.
He smiled when I told him that I wrestled at 126 in college.
After all of these months in various degrees of isolation, this random interaction makes me smile.

Love this. It’s the small, random moments of connection that give our life color, depth and meaning.

Love this! It occurred to me recently how few interactions I was having with other humans outside of Gotham and my business. It's time to make a concerted effort to interact more even if it is as simple as saying more than "thank you" when someone holds the door. Good reminder, Ben.

It's the little things that matter! I always try to hold doors, especially when people have their hands full. If in a playful mood, I will say, "no extra charge!"
