Changing Seasons

I don’t think I could ever relocate to a place that didn’t have four seasons.  There is something special about those first few days as the weather warms or cools.  Change is in the air, literally.

I don’t even think I have a preference for a particular season.  I think I like them all -- at the time.  Of course, I’m often ready for one to end and another to begin.

Certain things trigger changing seasons for me.  When the backyard furniture comes out and the table and chairs are uncovered on the deck, I know I’m ready for summertime.  Oddly, I also know I have complete control over that timing regardless of weather.  In 2020, I think I insisted that our furniture be out in the elements when there was still snow on the ground.

But I digress.

This past weekend had moments of absolutely glorious weather and we were outside the first moment we could.  As you all know, it was a fleeting moment but it was a moment.

I keep telling myself that it will be here soon.  And then, you’ll find me outside.

I love Spring. I love the, usually, temperate weather. Not too hot, not too cold. And the promise that summer is just around the corner. . .

I do miss the change of weather to a degree (no pun intended), but I have to say, having spring down here for more than half the year is amazing. Yes it will get hot, very hot for three months, but we have a helping ocean/river breeze almost always and no really bad winter months. You get used to that very quickly and realize, this is paradise. Also a reason we chose to be near the water. Inland, no way. I keep the snow for a once a year visit.

I love the seasons too. And like you, find something wonderful about each. I think I just like change. New routines, new clothes, new activities. Forces me to see and appreciate life with fresh eyes. :)

I can’t imagine living anywhere that has the same weather (give or take) without seasonal changes, except when spring seems to keep evading us….yes hope springs eternal (no pun intended) and it only makes its arrival so much more appreciated….sometimes many times in a week!
