Two Words

We were in Aruba last week where mask mandates have been relaxed — leaving decisions to each establishment and individuals.

I noticed two signs on entrances: “Masks Requested” and “Masks Required”.  “Requested” and “Required” - Two similar words differentiated by a few letters but with such  different meaning - literally and philosophically.

One states a preference but leaves the decision to the recipient. The other makes a demand.

The question remains as to whether they are each respected.

And if not, what does that say?

Requested and Required - two concepts that carry well-beyond the mandates.

I have noticed this in several locations. Where I am, it's really up to the individual to wear or not. Most do not down in here.
