Shopping Local

I recently had the occasion  to try two new, small local business. The first was a coffee shop, Wired Coffee, that recently opened near our train station. I really enjoyed my coffee as well as my conversation with the owner. He was very knowledgeable and proud of  his coffee, as it is home roasted.  Along with my cold brew, I happily purchased a bag of roasted coffee. I will definitely be back to have more of his coffee and to try  his “real food.”

From there I went to a new, small local shoe store. I need dress shoes for my niece’s wedding, and I was having trouble finding a nice pair that would fit me online.  The owner could not do enough for me. We looked at her stock of dress shoes together and she discussed with me what style would work best for me and why. Ultimately, I settled on a pair of shoes that I really liked. Unfortunately, she did not have them in my size but quickly ordered them for me.

In our busy world, where online shopping is so convenient, we forget how welcoming the customer service you receive at local businesses can be.  And how important it is to support these businesses. While I will continue to support these businesses financially, I have also posted about my positive experiences on social media.

Do you support your local businesses?

I try to as well. I will even spend a bit more if the product is good. What kills me is when a local merchant does the wrong thing (service or a ridiculous mark up) and almost forces you to go back on line to find the same product. But I love it when a local merchant goes above and beyond and instills the true meaning of customer service. Priceless.

Yes! Love this and love small, local owned. They got creamed during Covid. Always try.

Whenever I can. I think I know that shoe store. I'm pretty sure my mom is supporting the store all by herself . . ..

I also shop local whenever possible. I even have a local stationery store!
