Covid Weary
As a lot of people are, I am getting Covid weary. While I appreciate the impact it has had on all of our lives, I am getting tired of Covid being the focus of most discussions. I was recently on a Zoom call with longtime friends A half hour into the Zoom call, I realized that all we had been discussing was Covid. So, I asked whether there were any topics we could discuss, other than Covid.
There was a long awkward silence after my question. Then, one of my friends said, “Did I tell you that my daughter is changing jobs?” That launched us into a discussion of our children which lasted for the rest of the call. And, for a short time, Covid wasn’t the focus of our attention.
Are you getting Covid weary like me?

Omicron BA.2 is no joke.
If we want to be over with it, we're going to need to:
1) Rethink how we deliver healthcare (the ER shouldn't be the default option)
2) Provide more in-home care
3) Provide vaccines to everyone worldwide who wants it
Past pandemics lasted years (or decades) until war broke out and that realigned societal priorities.
So, who's ready for a land war in Europe? Or border wars in Asia?
P.S. Yes, I am tired of Corona too. I am tired of living at home, not going to restaurants or vacations overseas. I am tired of not being able to go on a cruise ship. Or Weddings.
And then I look at the immunocompromised in our family, the under 5 year olds...and I look at my inconveniences and realize all my complaints are FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS.

And Raj, I am extremely vigilant and I agree with everything you say. I just want to have a few minutes to talk about other topics, like the kids in your home that are under 5.
