Have You Set 2022 Goals?

I am an annual goal setter.  I like the idea of planning and thinking through what the year might bring.  I set personal goals and professional ones.

Frankly, I often need to adjust my goals as the year progresses, but I’m really ok with that.  Long ago, I learned that it was healthy to cut myself some slack because just the process of thinking about annual goals was forward motion.

I’m late this year – its just been too crazy a start to 2022. That said, I refuse to give up my process and I’m going to get down to goal setting before the month is out – and yes, I know the month has only a few days left.  That works for me.  See, I've cut myself some slack.

Has anyone else out in Gotham land embraced the process of annual goal setting?

Our company requires us to produce an annual Business Plan which covers a lot from a business perspective. The challenge is to actually follow it which means looking at it at regular intervals. I think that is where sometimes the goals go off course. But writing them down is half the battle, so better late than never.

Love the approach. As the Cheshire Cat said to Alice: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” asked Alice.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.

I set yearly, 6-month, weekly and daily goals. And like you, I often have to move the goal post from time to time. I learned long ago that it is impossible to hit a target I can't see. I also learned that having defined goals helps to prevent overwhelm. Besides, how much fun is it to accomplish a goal!

In addition to my daily to-do list, I set yearly goals which include business and personal ones. Like everyone else, they need to be adjusted as the year goes on.

Personally, I set annual goals. Professionally, I set quarterly goals. If it's personal or professional, I review and adjust to see what I can tweak to achieve them.

I have a moveable list of daily goals which often become next day ( or next week?) goals but shockingly they (mostly) do get done!
Haven’t tried that for long term but perhaps this is the time to be hopeful again!

I like that approach. I've always looked at goals on an annual basis -- but that said I am committed to my weekly and daily to do list. And I just adore that feeling of checking something off the list!
