Make Our Planet Great Again

Categories
Lifestyle

I endeavor to do my small part to conserve the environment and save our planet. Some of the things I do (not necessarily in the order of significance) are:

Turn shower water off when soaping

Keep the thermostat at 60 degrees in Winter

Turn AC off when temperature’s 75 degrees or lower

Use econogas gear in my car

Use Regular gas

Use LED light bulbs

Turn off lights in day light

Flush only after a full night

Separate garbage, recyclables and newspapers

Ride bicycle

Use plastic newspaper bags for poop picking

Bring our own bags to supermarket

How about you?

We also resume plastic bags as garbage liners and paper nags for throwing out dry goods. No need to buy large plastic garbage bags.

I’m afraid my carbon footprint is larger than it should be - having done a ton of air travel. However I can deduct a few points for the last 16 months - as due to the pandemic my wings have been clipped.

The planet is great. Two of us live in 600
sq ft, we use mass transit or walk, recycle, given up
the plastic toothpaste tube and the plastic laundry jug. And so much more, our footprint is tiny and getting smaller all the time. I look forward to doing more. The planet never stopped being great, people need to be more aware if we are to continue using it.

No car, no a/c, and doing what we can to do as little damage as possible. We buy from sustainable growers, are lucky to be able to grow a good bit of produce, compost food scraps, and are mindful of supporting "green" businesses. Being an example for others and raising awareness is key - thanks Fred for making this a topic of conversation.

This is so great, all of you! I also urge you to consider two other things you can do - contact your legislators at all levels and the media about your concerns regarding climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, etc., and do it often. Also, find a group fighting for what you care about and donate and/or volunteer! Both of these actions can really make a difference!!

I am advocating against elitist billionaires sending random rich people into space for four minutes so they can experience weighlessness. Just one of these homemade rocket boosters uses more than 100,000 of fuel than a commercial air flight does and the CO2 residue lasts high in the atmosphere for up to two years. When seen in perspective we can't take enough waterless showers or experience enough sleepless nights without A/C to more than compensate for the destruction that is coming due to 600 pre-sold space flights to wealthy entertainers, legislators and titans of industry just so they can get a thrill ride. Quite frankly I'm sick of masterminds telling us what to do and then we watch them jet all over the world creating the largest carbon footprints amongst us! And by the way, I have my A/C controlled remotely and have the ability to turn up the thermostat to 78 when I exceed my geo-fence of 20 miles radius from my home, well, at least when my kids are not staying with me! I also turn off my water when I brush my teeth and I try to take quick showers.

Great to have a subject on which we are in complete agreement :)

Your list is on target. We try to compost veggie and fruit remains in the leaf and lawn pile.
