Dressing The Part

Categories
Lifestyle
Dinner conversation expanded beyond my fabulous cooking and onto social graces. My husband and I were discussing manners, where they were invented, and what “dressing for the occasion” really meant. Coco Chanel said it best “it’s always best to be a little under dressed.” Presentation is important. It demonstrates respect for yourself and for the person or people you are meeting. Business attire, golf attire, business casual and sassy-dresses all communicate something specific. Have your thoughts changed around presentation over the past 18 months? If so, how?

So much has changed as a result of the pandemic, dress not the least!

I do think about it and since the pandemic started, we are more casual at work. I think I have worn a tie just twice in last 18 months.

One thing I learned a long time ago about working from home is the importance of getting up and getting dressed to go to work. And while my dress code is a bit more casual than some, I have work clothes and play clothes. Running gear is in a separate category. One difference during CoronaTimes - no shoes!

Definitely less formal - but still trying to model professional dress for my students. And zoom dressing (and backgrounds etc.) have their own etiquette.

I couldn't agree more. I like dressing up and will probably go back to my dresses. Or, I could simply wear golf clothes all the time.
