I Know It's a Fortune Cookie

At the end of our weekly Chinese food treat, we go around the table and share our fortunes. It’s a tradition. I don’t claim to own this tradition as I’m pretty sure it is universal and almost a required part of the meal. I think I noticed it once in the fine print of a menu.

“The best exercise for the heart is to reach down and help someone up.”

This was Friday night’s fortune. Yes, I understand I am talking about a fortune cookie here but the message stuck with me. To be honest, it felt very Gothamly and in the nature of our mantra of “It’s Better to Give than Receive – And What Goes Around Comes Around.”

Maybe we should be starting Gotham Fortune Cookies.

If you think about it today, reach down and help someone up. It will make your day.

I'm with Fred. Try to do everyday. Somedays it's difficult to remember.

The Chinese restaurant we order from stopped sending fortune cookies during the pandemic! As for yours, I am grateful for every opportunity to help someone up and yes, it sounds very Gothamly.

I opened two fortune cookies. The first said "Help I'm being held prisoner in a Chinese fortune cookie factory." The second said "Smile at the person sittting across from you cause he is paying the check,"

I hope your Chinese restaurant has gone back to fortune cookies! I don't even like them that much but lack of cookie could be a gamechanger in my choice of restaurant.
