Getting To and From

Are you a car person? Admittedly, I am not. To me, my car’s function is to get me to and from where I need to be. Since that sometime means driving through inclement weather, I generally drive a SUV or cross-over.

For the past six years I have leased a GMC Terrain. I loved my Terrain but, for some reason, when the second lease recently ran out I wanted to shake things up. So I walked into an Audi dealer and looked at their SUVs. The cars seemed fine but the salesperson’s attitude was not. When I questioned the high monthly cost of the lease the salesperson, in a dismissive manner, told me that Audis do not have good resale values as “experienced Audi drivers always buy new.” I walked out.

I then walked next door into a Volkswagen dealership. I sat in a Tiagun and realized that this was my new car. We sat down with the salesperson and went over the lease numbers. The sale person was accommodating, the numbers were right and the car was right. So, I leased the car. I think I shocked the salesperson when I said yes to the car due to my nonchalant attitude.

What do you drive?

A sports sedan...not in love with SUVs (no offense) but the ones I've driven have not handled well.

A Toyota 4Runner. Paul calls it “bubble wrap” - safe, solid and reliable. It’s awesome. I love it.

I am a car person and love to research on the topic. When leasing, you can go with almost anything you like or can afford as is should last or is at least covered by warrantee for 3 years. If Buying, you need to do more research, I love Toyotas for their reliability (a necessity for my work) and value for what you get. My "toy" is a Ram 1500 4x4 truck which gets us to all of our vacations or trips to and from Florida. Can't beat the room, ride and features offered for the price. Yes, a sales experience can make or break the deal, almost always.

I am on my fourth Hyundai Sonata Limited. Best car I’ve ever had and also the most technologically advanced In my opinion the best value on the road today

I just went through this myself. I know your pain. Took trips to three different dealers to get the right deal. Ridiculous! And a pain in the tuchas!
Glad you got what you wanted!

I was thinking about a convertible. But the issue is that sometimes in the winter I have to get to court no matter what the weather.

That's the way Phil feels about my SUVs. Great minds. . .

My dad, who was a car person, had a Sonata. He loved it.

I have owned, leased, or driven more models than I care to count. SUVs, trucks, sedans, hatchbacks, you name it! I even drove an Edsel - it was already old and I was not. I loved cars! As for the salespeople - I have experienced the full range and, like you, I have walked out on the rude ones. I am now happily without a car and have no desire to change that.

My lease was up as well. I seriously do not enjoy car shopping. Some of the salesmen were not easy to understand (foreign)
---for me, it's never fun! Glad you love your new car.
