Stopping and Watching

“Stop and smell the roses” often alludes me.
We were visiting the New York Botanical Garden to see the Yayoi Kasuma installations. We approached the Narcissus Garden and we could see them from a distance. Over one thousand silver spheres floating in the water.
The sun was shining. Light reflecting off the spheres as they were moved by the gentle breeze.
On any other day, I would have walked on. But I stopped and took a position overlooking the water. I observed. I took out my phone and focused on one area that was devoid of any spheres. And I watched and recorded as the breeze and water choreographed. I recorded for a minute and the spheres filled the empty water. Where there were none, they were now crowded and bumping up against each other. The soft metallic sound barely noticed.
One minute. Stop and watch. It’s worth it.

This is poetry, both visual and literal!

What a wonder-filled image. It made me think about the City and other empty spaces being filled with people and energy again.

NYBG or BBG has always been one of my favorite memberships. Thanks for this visual.

Love the imagery. Yes, we all need to slow down at times, which seems to be more and more difficult these days unfortunately.
