Day #1 -- Again

I have to admit I’m a little anxious.

As I write this blog, I am readying to go back to my office tomorrow. It’s time. And truth is, I’m a little excited.

I was back over the summer for a while, a few days a week. I distinctly remember that feeling of stepping foot into my office for the first time. It was truly emotional. Sitting at my desk brought just a glimmer of that long lost normalcy.

But when November rolled around and, well you all know what that looked like, I became uncomfortable again riding the LIRR and I have been working from home ever since. My home office works really well. It is efficient and frankly, I’m very convinced that I work longer hours at home – which I didn’t even think was possible. Here is a completely backwards worry – going back to the office is actually going to shorten my workday. Anyone else have that cross their mind?

So, Gotham friends wish me luck. By the time you read this, I  will either be mid-commute or already sitting at my desk. I wonder if the coffee machine is working . . .

I began again accidentally. I had a three week virtual trial in January. I found it easier to appear from my office and so was in the office every day during the trial. Which then just continued. . .

Same here! Once everyone is back in their offices and meetings will require leaving home, the number of meetings per day will be fewer. I'm looking forward to the walks to and from and also being in person despite the reduced efficiency. Let us know how the coffee turned out! French Press will now be the weekend treat!

I have been 50/50 back at the office for a few months now. I actually get more done at the office. Even though the commute stinks, an hour each way, I tend to set time goals and at a certain point, I say I had enough and go home. From home, there are many distractions and it's easier to drift away into something non work related, then I have to work later at home to make up the work. So, no commute and no time parameters or commute and be more timely, that's the choice it seems for me.

We have been back since mid-May 2020! Criminal Law was considered essential.(possibility of incarceration). You will feel more normal...

Thanks Aimee! It's a crazy thing -- and I'm actually kind of enjoying it. But shhhhh, don't tell anyone!

Funny, I actually wound up buying coffee from the guy on the corner. The regular place I go to was closed. Was a really good cup of coffee actually. Not quite french press but really good.
