How Did You Feel?

This blog is not about whether you will, or will not, take the Covid vaccine. This blog is about how you felt afterwards if you did take it.

I am curious to hear different people’s reactions to the vaccine. I am also interested to hear whether you believe having Covid affected your reaction. In my family, all three vaccines were taken. My husband and two daughters had Moderna, I had Pfizer and my step-son had Johnson and Johnson.

Within, approximately 7 hours of taking John and Johnson my step-son began running a fever, had horrible aches and chills. He felt very ill for 36 hours. While, we do not know for sure, we have hypothesized that in late January 2020 he had Covid. He was living in the City, was extremely ill for about ten days, as were many of his friends. At that time they were not testing for Covid or thinking about Covid so he was just told he had a virus and to rest. But now I have read that they believe it was in NYC as early as January, 2020. My step-son has never taken an antibody test but his friends who have taken the test, and were sick at the same time, had the Covid antibodies.

My daughter, who has never had Covid and who did not have antibodies, was ill after taking the second Moderna shot. While she was not as ill as my step-son, her symptoms were similar, fever, body aches and chills. My other daughter and my husband were fine after both shots other that some arm pain.

Being the anxious person I can be at times, and after seeing two of my children's reactions,  I anticipated being ill after my second shot. I was not, however, ill at all. Other than arm pain, which was less with the second shot, and some fatigue, I was fine.

Did you have a reaction after your Covid vaccine? If so, what was it? And, do you mind sharing whether you had Covid?

Not had Covid and have been tested numerous times. Wife and I are going for our 1st injection today, Pfizer, so time will tell how we react.

Received the J & J vaccination at a local CVS pharmacy. No after effects. I really wanted the Pfizer vaccination but had to take whatever CVS was supplied with. Never had Covid.

First, I felt an unexpected sense of relief after the first shot. I've had 2 shots of moderna. I had little reaction - are soreness after the first. After the second I had headaches and tiredness for 4 days. My son just had his 2nd of Pfizer. On the second day he had a throbbing headhead. The 3rd day he complained of pain in his armpit lymph node of the arm he had the shot.

I did not have Covid and have now had both vaccines (Pfizer) & other than a slight headache after the second shot I felt fine. My son who had Moderna had chills after his second shot. My Daughter got the Pfizer vaccine and also had no symptoms. All that said, my sister had Moderna - she was sick for 24 hours after both - worse the second shot - couldn't even lift her head off the pillow for 24 hours.

When I read your opening sentence, I thought it was about how we felt emotionally. I literally cried when I got my first shot! Tears of joy, gratitude & relief... that being said I got Moderna. The next day and a half I had the worst migraine ever; felt like an Anvil was pushing down on my head! Stayed in bed and had no energy. Second shot, other than mild arm soreness I had no reaction. On his first shot, also Moderna, hubby had some lethargy but not bad, second shot he had 100.4 fever for two days, terrible chills and he stayed in bed. Daughter Kelly had the same reaction as her Dad, also Moderna. Mom got Pfizer and only had arm soreness both times.

Like many I was so happy and relieved. I didn’t have Covid. I had the Moderna shots. Some soreness and fogginess but nothing terrible after either shot. Most of my family had Pfizer and had some soreness snd flu like symptoms- nothing terrible. Just so grateful for the vaccines. Parents in their eighties- now we can see them and hug them.

The sense of doing something important and the thought of being able to safely travel to see my kids was worth every minute of feeling miserable! I had COVID last year in April. I was down for 7 days and up and running two weeks later. After Moderna shot #1 I got sick. 24 Hours after the shot I got a fever and chills that lasted 12 hours. This time I got sick almost right away and it was twice as bad and lasted twice as long. My wife had a positive COVID test last year and no symptoms. She had no reaction to either shot. I guess I took it on for both of us.

Ended up getting J @ J as that is what Nassau Coliseum was dispensing today. I saw many turn around and not get it. We elected to go for it as we were there. So far, a little weakness and mild headache. It's only been about 4 hours, so time will tell if worse effects.

It was a feeling I don't think I will ever forget. We had our vaccines at Aqueduct. I'm not sure I've ever been there before. I told Bill that we needed to come back to watch some races because I didn't want this vaccine memory to be the lasting one. Overall, we did well. No real reactions to complain of and super grateful.
