Cell Phone Panic

I am sure it has happened to everyone. You are on your way somewhere and realize you forgot your cell phone. It happened to me last week. I was on my way to meet my children for dinner. Ten minutes away from the restaurant I realized I had left my cell phone on the charger in my home.

Initially panic set in. I was too far from my house to retrieve my phone. I started imagining horrible scenarios, such as a client would need me and I would not be available. My husband quickly calmed me down and assured me all would be fine.

And he was right. I really enjoyed my dinner with my children undistracted by emails that really did not need to be answered immediately. Interestingly, when I got home, I did not run to retrieve my phone as I had expected to do. Rather, I took care of what I had to do first and then checked my phone. And, not surprisingly, there was nothing on the phone that required my immediate attention.

I might forget my phone more often. Have you forgotten yours lately?

Losing it is far worse. What an addiction!

Before Covid I was trying to limit my cell phone use. During the shut down it shot up again. I'm going back to try to limit it again.

Been there. It's rough. I've had that happen (in the good old days) commuting to the city and realizing when stepping onto the LIRR that my phone was at home. Not pleasant.

W took my 13 year olds away due to poor grades in one class. We are on vacation now and I see the difference in his activities in real life and not on line. Interesting experiment. We will give it back in a day or so and see what happens.
