Trikes

I never think of myself as a snob, but then I got to thinking about biking.

I flat out love biking on my basic 1950s era “2 wheeler”.  The type on which I learned to bike ride way back when.

My problem is that where I am everyone bikes, but many pedal tricycles and the sight of a man wearing a helmet tooling along smoking a cigar on a tricycle rankles me.

Somehow a woman on a tricycle doesn’t bother me as much.

I’m Old School for sure and I suppose I’m just a snob!

Balancing is a major benefit of riding a Tricycle and transporting cargo as well. I never rode one but I guess the appeal is being able to do more while riding.

As you put on more weight and get older, tricycles become more of an option. You see this a lot with motorcycles as well. I guess riding, whether on two wheels or three is better than not riding at all.

Fred. Let go of it. Be secure in the fact that as you pass a tricycle, it probably won’t stumble and hit you.

I am with you. I too am a bike snob. But what bothers me is the packs of guys dressed in brightly colored spandex on their racing bikes that hog the roadways. LOL. Being a mountain biker, I think that people who use bikes strictly for exercise (rather than to get places) should keep to the woods and enjoy nature.

My brother has a three wheeler. I know it's good for him to get exercise but I cringe when I see it. Am I that shallow?

Enjoy your 2 wheel ride as long as you can. But 3 wheels is better than just sitting on your rear end without moving.

Three wheelers? A revelation to this super-annuated pre-retiree rooky. A preview of things to come without doubt. Reminds me of the Oracle of Delphi in the Greek play Oedipus Rex: “What has four legs at dawn, two legs at noon and three legs at night?”
