Vaccinations

VaccinationWe did not cut the line(a subject for another day) and Joanne and I received our second Moderna vaccination on March 7th and we are patiently waiting out the safe harbor, post shot period before re-emerging and being out and about!

Thank you Dr. Carla Fry, your nursing student cadre and The College Of The Florida Keys for stepping up in the vaccination roll out!

The timing was perfect prelude to  the celebration of my March 30th (maskless) birthday!

So much has happened in the year of the Covid Pandemic and we survived.  For that we are eternally grateful!

Much has changed, possibly forever, as a consequence, but I for one will welcome the return to the time honored ritual of symbolic, enthusiastic hand shaking.  Do you remember the last person’s hand you shook? Mine was that of my Mate Andrew Ambrose.  I miss it and him!

Different people had varied post shot reactions.  My first was negligible, but my second was not so easy on the headaches.

I even kept a vaccination diary (bandaids and all).

My anecdotal research finds that women had tougher reactions than men.  My theory is that, of course, the same dose to a 110 pound woman will pack a greater wallop than to a 210 pound male.

Last, but far from least, I will always remember the anxiety, the relentless frantic efforts to get signed up and the then shots.  Most of all, I will remember receiving, against all odds, the second shot (pictured) from close friend Dr. David Berger!

You both were patient, stay the course, stayed safe, and will soon be able to get back to some sort of normalcy!

Yes it’s great to be vaxed- I too am double dosed. But..... not that much has changed. I still don’t feel safe in a restaurant or a movie theater or in close quarters with people outside my “pod”. I’m not sure about long plane flights. It will take a while before the world returns to “normal” - whatever that will be..... Having said all that - I’m thrilled to be vaxed to the max!

That’s awesome - love that you got the shot from David! I had moderna too. Not terrible after either although the second one I did have more headaches and brain fog for a day or two. We are coming out of this!!! Can’t wait for handshakes and hugs! Xo

Great news, Fred! Today's front page of the Naples Daily News includes a story of an 80 yr. old man who has tried since January to get an appointment through the crazy all-jump-in-at-once-to-the-Publix-website approach. Finally got a first dose last week: in Tampa! In conjunction with an appointment for cancer treatment! (Not through the website.) The county here has started to partner with homeowners associations that jumped into action with them, from trailer parks to high end. Grateful that our HOA did -- and that I learned yesterday that I was one of our HOA's lottery winners. On a list for March 29 for the first dose!!

May the force be with you.
Let's keep wearing masks and sharing with others that we all need to get vaccinated.

Awesome to be planning for normalcy in what ever level that may be. Glad you both are on the path to that goal. I still need mine and will be patiently waiting my turn.

Keep your mask on and keep on fistbumping or, in the words of Billy Crystal " Don't be a bigshot, wear a sweater."

Of course you took the shot as a lefty. For me it was the wrong arm!

How nice getting the SHOT in the ARM from your good friend David B.
It is the beginning of liberation!

First dose of Pzifer in. I feel my superpowers already. I fell asleep really early and slept for a long time that night and my arm hurt for a few days. Next dose 4/7. Interested to see how I react.

Great reaction post. Last time I shook a hand was our Mar. 11, 2020 Health & Longevity mttg...a year ago. WOW. BEWARE: As Norm cautions and Dr. Carlton flat-out warns a Category 5 Covid Variant Storm is around the corner for April and May. Don't even think of not wearing your mask! Sorry. Patience wins.
Dana Charlton

I'm glad you both(?) are fully-vaccinated, as I am. Yes, masks and social distancing remain requisites. Here in NYC we are being advised to double-mask. But, at least we have some protection ~ stay safe and well!
