A Visit to the Museum

It had been almost a year since we were inside a museum, so the notice from the Brooklyn Museum grabbed our attention. It was an invitation to a member’s preview of the new Kaws exhibit. At the museum. Not virtual.

Limited admission. After six in the evening.

We could schedule it exactly two weeks after our second vaccine.

We considered.

What was most striking to me as I walked into the museum was the sense that I had just been there. It didn’t seem like more than a year had gone by. Few people. No coat check. No snack bar or tables. Only two people in the elevator at a time. But with all the differences, it was familiar and good to be there.

The exhibit —- check out Kaws if you are not familiar with his work —-  was a breath of fresh air. And, I dare say that,  the artwork would not have been as appreciated on my computer screen.

The visit to the museum was a considered first step and well worth it.

Ah, a maskless breath of fresh air!

Went out in the field canvassing yesterday as my manager drove me around in downtown Brooklyn. First time handling out fliers with my card. It was strange, familiar and felt good to get out. People were receptive too. Things are slowly getting back to normal, even if the elevators had different technology and some offices were locked.
