Sleep Mode

At 11:59 every night, my phone starts singing the quietest of sleep songs. Then at midnight, it literally shuts down into sleep mode.

The ringer on the phone is silenced, emails, texts and news no longer show up on the home screen, and the phone powers back to a subtle backlight. Of course, if I want to I can get to all of the news and info behind the quiet screen, but I have to try harder. That is until the alarm rings in the morning.

I didn’t even know this blessed function existed on my iPhone. Last week, I was complaining to my daughter about an admittedly sleep destructive habit, that being checking my phone multiple times throughout the night. "I can fix that for you", she said, and quickly took my phone.

Yes, it worked. I admit there have been a few times that I have pushed past the protective quiet of sleep mode, but really only a few.

So good night friends. My phone is starting to sing that sleep song again and I’m off to a good night’s sleep.

Once I put mine down and start charging I leave it until morning.

I didn't know about that mode. I do put my phone on airplane mode 45-60 minutes before I get into bed. Then the white noise machine goes on and the book is opened. That said, I'm glad you are putting the phone down and enjoying some restful sleep.

My husband absolutely hates when I look at my email at night. The constant looking at email is foreign to him. He put the sleep mode on my phone several years ago. My phone sleeps from 10 pm to 8:00 am.
