Gotham Battle of the Bands®

This involves nothing political or otherwise.

Perhaps early but still excited because I know this show will go on. I miss live concerts. Followers of this weekly commentary know well this commentator’s enjoyment of live shows. So last Wednesday, I looked forward to a planning meeting for the return of the Gotham Battle of the Bands® this year. Covid19 canceled the May 3, 2020 event. This year, Gotham Entertainment Chair Norm Spizz and producer of this musical extravaganza conceived a COVID-beating tuneful battle: The Gotham Battle of the Bands® goes virtual his year. We set the date, Thursday evening, June 17. More details will be forthcoming, including prizes, how to apply to battle for musical honors and sponsor opportunities. You can save this link for June on the Gotham calendar and when June 17 includes the link, you can access all you need to know; alternatively watch for when more details go up on the Gotham Battle of the Bands® page (Click the “Subscribe” tab and receive updates when posted.). So save the date to and so pass word of this opportunity to bands you know.

It remains to early to know whether any rescheduled 2020 shows I planned to attend (some discussed one year ago announcing 2020’s subsequently canceled Gotham Battle of the Bands®) will indeed come into play. TBD remains a safe early conclusion. Watch this space for further musical reports. At least one show will go on. A nice start.

In anticipation of tonight’s snow, a song playlist about precipitation albeit non-frozen kind. And as a special credit, when I verified each link in the preceding list, “lingering” on the right column when verifying an amazing cover of (Eric Clapton’s Let It Rain), I found this 2019 full concert gem.

Thank you Corey for running the sponsorship program for this event and for the first posting of a “save the date”. If any of the readers of this blog know of an interested band please direct them to the entry link when it gets posted. A great way for the winners to supplement their non existent income during this pandemic time

The Battle of the Bands was the first event I was involved with.since it was out of the City back then I had to score a ride which in any other situation would have been a challenge. Not so in Gotham. Lary Schwartz came from NJ to pick me up. We didn’t even know each other. Every year since then I’ve enjoyed being involved. This year will be no different. It’s going to be epic!

A Battle that will promise ALMOST LIVE Music. Sounds like something to look forward to.
And, the possibilities of getting entries from every part of the USA and the World will make for great talent and tough decisions.

Your participation in getting it going certainly makes a difference.

I absolutely love the idea of a virtual battel. It allows those of us who may not be able to attend to "click in."
