How long

How long would you wait in a Doctor's waiting room before leaving? Keep in mind that the apppointment is not an emergency, just a standard follow up...

I found out mine is 70 minutes. Watching people sign in after me, get seen before me and leave while I was waiting is infuriating.

After 1 hour and 10 minutes,  I told the receptionist I was leaving and I'll call to make another appointment. Wouldn't you know that they called me 5 minutes later to see if I was still in the building because they just called me in.

I really can’t understand why doctors’ offices are like that...

After 15 minutes I go to reception and say wasn’t my appointment at that time and make an angry face. After 30 I walk out

Wow. No apology? No acceptance of responsibility? I would never wait that long. I’m with Norm on this. Could have led another workshop while you waited. The conclusion is very Seinfeld. Find another Doctor. You are worth it.

No idea...maybe one of the docs in the group can shed some light

I'm actually giving them one more try...that's the kind of guy I am :)

Frustrating for sure, easy to say leave! But, if it the Dr. you have to see and you travelled a considerable distance. What do you do beyond looking at your phone and get pissed off.

My Drs office some time ago worked to improve wait time; never like that.

You went way beyond my time. I understand emergencies come in but respecting people’s time is very important. On the few occasions when it also seemed something went awry I always speak to the receptionist letting him/ her / them. know that I really need to get back to work. If an emergency came up they usually explain if that’s just that doctors standard operating procedure I cancel and find a new doctor. Only recall one occasion I actually had to do that

My wait time to see my PCP is always more than an hour. I used to get upset but now I do stuff to entertain myself. I would watch a movie, a series or play my favorite game. When I do that the wait doesn’t seem as long and I’m not as frustrated when visiting.

I’ve learned to ask for th e best times for the least wait. Usually, that’s the first appt. of the day. Or, the first appt after lunch. The later you go, the greater
the backup. Always announce yourself, ask how soon you we seen, and enroll them in your need to return to work by asking them if they will make sure your time is honored. Hope this helps. P.S.: Ester Horowitz may still help practices operate more efficiently fly.

I don't wait for any appointment longer than 30 minutes. At 15 I ask for an update. I had one time recently when my dentist had an emergency come in and they tried to call me. I had already left and missed the call, but upon arrival they said they would be delayed about 30 minutes so I waited. I choose to leave before getting angry. I don't enjoy being angry - it's not healthy.

I don't have the patience for that at all. I generally book the first appointment of the day or the first after lunch. And, because I am so aware of that I am hyper vigilant of being on time in my own practice. I rarely, if ever, keep a client waiting more than 5 minutes.

I hope you'll tell them that behavior was unacceptable!

You are such a nice guy, Ray! They are lucky to have a you as a patient.

Interesting as I never thought about this. But I do know that my doctor's group does charge my credit card the Co-pay BEFORE going in to the waiting room or office. Maybe they realize some walk out and they at least have some of your money up front.

Lucky for me, I rarely need to see a doctor and my chiropractor is always on time
