Holiday Zoom

Happy holidays.....

Our children are all married with young families. One lives in Manhattan, one lives on Brooklyn, another in Alexandria, Virginia and another in Washington D.C. Getting everyone together has always been a challenge and it has been years since we were all together in one place.

Until the era of Zoom.

Two weeks ago, we lit Hanukah candles together…. but together in a different way.

Nonetheless, It was great to see everyone.

We’re all learning that Zoom overcomes physical distances in many ways.  Although at first it was a little awkward, it is now more accepted —- We’re getting used to it.

Now, more than ever, in these holiday times where we can't all be together physically......

Let’s share our greatest Zoom experiences.

The party was the best ever. Hats off to Norm Spizz and the Award winners!

Using it more socially now than for business. Seems like people are getting tired meeting for business on line. Still good to have this amazing technology.

I've been a regular user of FaceTime and Zoom for family time since my kids are in CA and GA. And I have had a virtual business for years. It was never even a passing thought that it would be a vehicle for my social life. Now, the weekly Gotham Happy Hours and our holiday party are among the greatest experiences.

I discovered a part of our family I never knew existed (we are still trying to figure the actual connection), however thanks to Zoom we will all share New Year's Eve---cousins across the country. Zoom has allowed us to maintain holiday traditions and connections, although not physically together we have gotten to see new babies, new significant others we would never have seen otherwise. Zoom allowed me the ultimate joy of performing my daughter and new son-in-laws marriage ceremony. Lastly it has allowed me to mediate matters I would otherside never have had the ability to do ---with participants in multiple countries at the same time. Although I cannot wait to physically hug my children, family and friends and to emerge from my cocoon when the world returns to normal----Zoom will be one of the things I bring back into the world as our doors reopen.

The social use has increased for sure. In my business I am finding that people really enjoy being able to be on Zoom, I am able to host more events and where we used to use conference calls, we can now see each other. So much depends on the nature of the business. That said, I am looking forward to being with people in person too.

Ben makes some great points. Tech can keep us together but also has the opposite effect of making isolation too acceptable.
Staying in touch visually has been a God send for so many of us who are trying to keep our distances.

Zoom is the loom that binds during Covid and Zoom and its variants will keep us connected for the future. Still...nothing replaces pressing the flesh and tickling the heart.
