My Special Events Meal

Categories

As I have blogged previously, planning special events during a pandemic requires a certain amount of creativity. I also learned that it requires a bit of investigative skills. If you are planning a party for someone else, you have to figure out what they would like.

I have a big birthday coming up in July. I think my family is already in the investigation phase of what they may be planning (we are early planners). Lately, I have been receiving a lot of hypothetical questions from them. The most interesting recent question has been, “What meal would you choose, if you could eat anything, without consideration to calories?”

For me that would probably be an Italian meal with a lot of gooey, melted cheese. I rarely partake in that sort of meal due to the calories, fat etc. But I know I would for a special birthday. And finish it off with cake with a lot of fudgy frosting. And then avoid the scale for a week.

What would your answer be?

Shrimp, sword fish, champagne and vanilla DQ with chocolate sprinkles (it would have been different when I was younger)!

When I first met Mara I made a "seduction dinner" Clams in wine over pasta. She outdid me by making watercress Soup, Chateaubriand and berrries servrd in front of a fireplace.

Love great Italian food, lobster and well aged steak. Finish it off with a properly crisp Crème Brule or Juniors Cheese cake, yum.

Several layers of vanilla cake with chocolate fudge frosting inside and out is the preferred dessert. Main would be bbq'd skirt or flirt marinated in Tamari sauce with sautéed onions, garlic and ginger. #2 would be Corned Beef with Stuffed Derma and Kasha Varnishes.

Hah! Am I allowed to admit that the meal you just described was my Saturday night dinner? Cake and all??
